North suburb of Columbus. This is not the Howard Alan Columbus/Worthington show, this is run by a local chamber. It seems to also be called “Art on the Green,” or just “Worthington Art Festival” I searched under all names and did not turn up much (except the HA show).

I’m looking for information, if you have some you can offer, thanks! It’s an 8 hour drive for me so I have to think carefully.

  • I did this show the last two years because I was already in Ohio for graduations.  Sales at the show were middle of the road for me for my glass but follow-on commissions were good.  Last year, I talked to several 2D artists who had an outstanding show.  It's laid out on the 4 quadrants in the middle of town with an even mix of mediums between the four quads.  People come early to 'get the good stuff' as one patron told me last year.  A pretty equal ratio of dogs in strollers to kids in strollers.  Farmer's market is adjacent to the show on Saturday.  It's a wealthy area.  People turn out for the show.  I had repeat customers last year.  As with all shows, you just have to have what they want.

It's a show where you're pretty much on your own for load in/out and everyone is expected to act as adults.

re: b/s.  I disagree that there's a high percentage of b/s.  The knife guys are there but overall, the quality of work is really pretty high.  I saw some misses where the artist might be a local legacy but overall, pretty nice work.

No graduations this year so I"m passing on the 12 hour drive to Ohio just for this show.

    • Thanks for the additional information, Kathy. I thought it looked promising. But if they fail to get back to me today I am crossing it off my list. Maybe they are having organizational difficulties this year.

Hello, everyone. I did this show 4-5 years when lving in Ohio, 2009 or 2010 was my last year.My neighbors were happy with the show, including me. My sales did go down a bit each year, and I took a few years off after moving out of state. In Ohio, it has a reputation of being a decent show, not large, not tons of money, but decent quality, not hard to do, no long hours.

I applied this year, Julie is currently having some things going on...I have had trouble with communications, too. Normally there are no problems.

Talking money- I know there is a big range for all of us. Being honest in order to be helpful, the last time I was there I made  $2000. That was after about 5 years, with it going down a bit each year. I figured that after taking a few years off, maybe another try?

The crowd is nice and steady, people are there for the show, there are no other diversions.

But the last time I did the show, they didn't buy my larger pots, so that hurt!

Hope that is of some help.

        Judy

        • I went ahead and mailed in a packet with all the information after not being able to get through via email. It's late, but there's no mail delivery on Monday anyway and most government facilities are closed.

          • Robert, tell us later whether the regularity of correspondence improved! I got cold feet after no one ever answered my phone messages or emails.

            • I received my letter of acceptance today. I never did receive any email answers or phone call returns. To make matters worse, I also received acceptance from Leeper Park today which is on the same date. I did Leeper last year but the weather was hot and sales were dismal. It was a nice show to do, but I lost money doing it, but decided to give it a second chance. Worthington doesn't do refunds for cancellations, so that may be the deciding factor. At this point I don't recall if I paid for the 10 foot or 15 foot space :-( I have a 15 foot tent I use for Talbot Street, and it's nice to have the extra room. I'll just have to wait for the check to clear and see how much it was for. Sounds dumb, but I use so few checks I print my own, and I forgot to write it down in the rush to get stuff out, and neglected to get it done later.

              • I have done Leeper Park twice, but it was so hot both times, and each time I received a booth space in full sun…even though I had begged for some shade. My sales were so-so. The customers seemed like they only visited the shady booths…? I always wondered how the show would be under better weather conditions. I have not applied since.

Give a follow-up report if you do Worthington!

                • I was in the shade but it still didn't help the sales last year. It's starting to sound like Leeper is a locals show where you make money if the travel and lodging expenses are nil.

            • Will do. I've heard nothing back so far, and no checks have been cashed yet.

  • unless its a local show for you, i would think twice about exhibiting, the first year we exhibited there(my husband has a separate booth from me metal) my work is 2d we did alright, each year after sales dropped last year we did not apply, several friends who exhibited, told me we made the correct choice.
