Hi all,

Been busting my butt to get a good look to my website, and easy to order from. Then stumbled across some info that said 80% of people will leave a website if it is not easily used from their mobile device.  That got me researching making a mobile friendly version and I've come up with what MIGHT work.

If you have a smartphone and some spare time, could you give me some  feedback on my site? I don't have one and I can't see what you'd see. All critique is welcome.

Jen Donald Art

Thanks

  • Hi Jennifer,

I wouldn't worry so much about a smart phone. What I would be concerned about is the 7 inch and 10 inch tablets.

For accessible web sites on a tablet, stick with nothing larger than 800x600. That will mean your web site is universally viewable on any computer, laptop, and tablet. The 800 is the page width.

I find your web site confusing in that the images don't enlarge when clicking on them. You have to click on the name underneath to enlarge the image. People click on images. And your enlarged images are 800 pixels long dimension which I think is too large. I prefer 500 pixels long dimension because it's viewable on all computers without requiring scrolling.

And you're asking people to enter your web site URL on their smart phones but you haven't visually provided the full URL.

    • Thanks, Larry.  I know I have some (ok, a LOT) of tweaking on the desktop version- the pics need to be resized and  more uniform.   Plus, you're right, when I tried to link the photo (on the desktop version) to enlarge, it kept removing the border from around the pic- looked kind of bare and floating w/out it.

this is the correct "mobile-friendly" link:

I'll check on the overall page size too. That's a huge help, since all I have is a desktop and no mobile device.

      Mobile Friendly version
      • You need to spell out the entire mobile friendly version of the link so people can type it into their smart phone. It doesn't have to be a link but it has to read as a full URL.
