  • I did the October Mt Dora show a couple of years ago and it was great.  Didn't get in last year or this year.  I also did the February show and it was not so good.  Very well organized, but people didn't seem to be buying jewelry.  Perhaps they would buy clothing?  The February show is much smaller but is growing.

  • Linda, are you talking about the February show? I find it hard to believe that you don't know much about this event. It is big, it is hilly, it is lots of locals, you will be asked if you are going to be at Winter Park. If it is cold you may sell well. We did it once. Not good for us, but since you have quality functional hand knits it may work for you. I wouldn't get too excited about doing it, but worth a try.

    • Thanks Connie, I have only done a few shows in FL. since we moved to NC 10 years ago! I'm trying to use lighter fibers, cotton, stuff like that, so I thought I'm give FL another try. If  go there in the early part of the year the snowbirds are still there an they are pretty much my sales base. Don't know much are central FL, except Gainesville and that's always just so, so. Thanks for the info.

      • Staci did Mt. Dora last year (decorative fiber) and didn't do very well.  Our booth was right in front of a gun shop where the owners were buttonholing patrons with anti-regulation petitions. On our block there were lots of people interested in guns and not so many in buying art.  We won't go back.

      • Gainesville is no, no.

Mt. Dora is so, so, at least for us.

But with your new fibers worth a try. And who from the north doesn't relish an opportunity to be in Florida in the winter. Do you have another show or two lined up?

  • Mount Dora is considered one of the better Florida shows.

    • Larry, thanks for the info, still wondering about it, but have a little while before the deadline......

      • It may not be worth the trip from up north for a single show, but if you're already in the Orlando area it's definitely worth a shot.
