I am on the wait list for the St. James Court Art Show.  The promoter of the Kentucky Shakespeare Festival Court got my name, and invited me to attend their show, which is coinciding with the St. James Court Art Show.  I am hesitant to enter this show at $500 booth fee if I won't be able to meet my show costs.

I have attended several shows this year (category painting), and lost money at metropolitan based shows.  I am thinking that wall art is connected to the housing industry, and when the housing industry isn't doing well, neither will wall art sales.

My question is, has anyone out there participated in this show (Kentucky Shakespeare Festival Court at the St. James Art Show)?

Thanks!

  • Try calling St. James and ask where you are on the wait list. They called me a couple of days ago but I had already accepted a wait list spot on the 4th Street section about three weeks back. I would have preferred to be on the original St. James Court but was on the inside a couple of years and traffic was considerablly less on the inside ring. I figured I wasn't going to wait around hoping for the ideal spot, and would take the first opening. I've never heard of the Kentucky Shakespeare Festival Court before, and didn't see that on the Zapp list or the official St. James website.
  • Which show of the four major St. James Court shows are you wait listed for? There is another small one in a Baptist church parking lot, but I doubt if they get much foot traffic. Looks like this organization is trying to cash in: and it is likely in a sub-par physical situation like the church one. I looked online but couldn't find out. The whole show is so enormous, it hardly needs to get any bigger. What Phillip said....
    • I am on the wait list for the St. James Court Section of the St. James Court Art Show. The location of the Kentucky Shakespeare Court is Magnolia and 4th Street at the Landward House Parking Lot.

Yes, I am concerned about the size. If you have knock-offs in other areas, people will choose to go to the original and not go to the others because it has become too large.
  • we've been doing the st. james for over ten years and i know nothing about this. sounds like a knock off like kings court in ann arbor. and a booth fee of 500 bucks for the pleasure is a rip off.
