I just saw that the shows are now accepting applications through Aug 1. I would love to hear from those who have experience with the shows in either Baltimore or Atlanta. Is one better than the other? The booth fees are so steep. Are the shows worth that high price? Any advice or thoughts on the Baltimore and Atlanta shows is greatly appreciated. Thanks. Pete

  • Hi Pete, I just got accepted into the ACC Baltimore wholesale for 2/2013 and my research is showing that the wholesale part of this show is not well attended.  I too would be interested in learning more, since I do not want to pay steep booth fees as well as travel expenses to sit and twiddle my thumbs for two days.  Any feedback would be great appreciated.  Thanks, Sheru

    • My experience is that the Balt wholesale is essentially a gift show. If you have something that fits the "gift market" you may want to consider it, otherwise run away.

  • Peter, visit the Craft Show News website (http://craftshownews.com). They write extensive reviews of ACC Baltimore just about every year, including plenty of honest comments from the artists. In a nutshell, the wholesale part is not worth much, but Baltimore retail is very healthy. Many artists will apply for the wholesale-retail section, which is easier to get into than the retail-only section, then sit through two boring days of wholesale just to get to the retail customers, and still turn a healthy profit. Craft Show News does not review other ACC shows (as far as I know), but from everything I've heard they are not worth doing ... way overpriced without delivering more sales than much less expensive shows.

    • Peter- The last ACC show I did was Atlanta since it is so close to me.  4 days long, I sold $600.00  (2 vases) a total waste of time and $$. There is beautiful work there. Things you just don't see at outdoor shows, but next time I'll just pay the entrance fee and go look!

  • This should be posted in one of the art show discussion forums. ACC shows are not the kind of craft shows this forum is directed at.

    • I thought it was a craft fair?

      • Fine art and fine craft. Some of the best high end craftspeople in the country that wholesale their work. A lot of the same artists who do Cherry Creek, Ann Arbor, the Smithsonian, Philadelphia Museum of Art craft show, etc...

Don't let the word craft in the name mislead you.

        • Peter, I never did Baltimore (I don't do wholesale) but have done a few other ACC shows. Once! If you sell clothing or jewelery, go for it. But if you do something else, I would not recommend spending the money. They are too long and too expensive.

          • I think I'm more interested in the Atlanta show. I don't do clothing or jewelry and I'm not that interested in wholesale. What are the ACC shows you have done? Were they worth it to you?  Thanks for your reply.

            • What is your medium and how much experience do you have?
