I create decorative raku and barrel fired pottery and market it as purely decorative.  Know any good shows around the Midwest where work of that nature would be appreciated?

  • I've only shown in MN, and I've done a few shows around the Twin Cities such as Powderhorn, Stone Arch, Wayzata, Art at St. Kate's, and Lakeville.  I'm looking to find show in WI, IA, and IL-Chicago area that are visited by serious buyers looking for something unique in pottery.  It's nice to stick close to home, but I'm afraid that I will be spending too much time too close to home if I continue with the same fairs here.  Just looking for more ideas that some may know of in the areas I mentioned.   My price points range from 50.00 to 500.00 at the moment.  Thinking of focusing on higher end items.  My work is about the process and being unique-I'm not into production my any means.  Thanks for the reply's this is a neat site!
    • I think the deadlines have passed for the summer shows in the states you mentioned.

Someone else here mentioned walking a few of the shows you may be interested in to see how you feel about the show.  I would recommend Lakefront Festival of Art in Milwaukee, Port Clinton in Highland Park Illinois, Gold Coast in Chicago.

Munks may be more familiar with the better shows in Iowa.

      I really like your work.

  • Chad, your work is really nice, especially the copper matte. I would buy your work anywhere geographically!! Not knowing your price point, it is hard to recommend shows.
  • Have you walked any shows to check what other ceramics people were selling?
