Booth Shot Critique

We are joining in to request the group's opinion on our booth shot progression. The first image is this year's. We are moving in a new direction in high fire, so the shot had to be re done. The second image is last year's which got us into a lot of good shows, but was not the way we wanted to go any longer.

  • I love the brightness of the new shot! However, I agree that it seems crooked. I also prefer the clean floor of the old shot. In addition, I would crop out more of the ceiling.

  • Larry, The Master, will weigh in I'm sure...:-)

    I like the new work!

But the two things I notice are:

    * It's too dark.  You can fix that easily with a levels adjustment in Photoshop. Or, if you're still set up and you've got a decent flash unit, you might try bouncing the light off a broad white surface (like, one of your canvas flaps)
    and into the booth.

    * It looks a little crooked. Your vertical lines look good, but the ground seems to be sloping down to the left.   I think you could fix that with the lens correction feature in Photoshop, though it might be a bit tricky. Not a major flaw, compared with the too-dark issue.

    • I agree with Geoff that it's too dark. Because it's dark, the light coming in under the back wall is a distraction. The walls on the sides need something hanging like your old booth had. If you don't have wall pieces in your new style, you can add photographs of your newer work.

And it's slightly going downhill to the right which can easily be fixed.
