  • I did $300 at Boca but did much better at the Hot Works show.  It seemed to be a less snooty crowd there.  Boca Museum show is where the woman rushed into my booth with her husband trailing behind, pointed to one of my photographs and said, it's perfect, I have to have it, but I want it in an oil.
    • Alison you mean $3000 right ;)  Still that is not even 10x the basic booth cost of $350.  Maybe it is just me.  I think this is a show worth doing if you are already in the area or in combination with another money maker show.

  • Too many shows in Boca Raton, but I did do the Museum Show this year.  Our area had no extra space in the back.  I paid for a corner space, which gave me and my neighbor 4 feet between our booths.  4 feet?   That is barely a walk through.   And we both paid for corner spots.  Anyway, I paid $600 for booth fee, jury fee and parking combined and I would expect to be able to do 10x that.  I did not.  In my area no one did that much,  Most people did between 2k and 3k.  Most were excited to do that and said I was crazy to expect to be able to get $6k at a Florida show.  So it depends what you consider to be a good show.

  • I do functional pottery and my prices for the Florida pottery market are medium. I have done this show for the past three years. The info I can offer is this, boca and the surrounding area has several shows in a very close time frame. Many of the customers in boca can afford what ever they want but they all say they have lots. The show has a seriously older cliental. The wind can be bad on the eastern side of the road. Load in and out are a free for all and very tight confines. Most spaces have ample backstock area. If you are an artist who likes double booths they give the extra ten feet for a large discount. The art can be one of the better quality shows in Florida. Sales this year were better at howards boca show for us. If you have specific questions I will gladly answer any I can.
  • I was thinking about this show as well, was recommended to me. Would also appreciate imput on this one and one in Miami Beach. I do fused glass art, jewelry and Judaica.
    • The Miami Beach show is now run by Howard Allen as one of his ACE shows.  I didn't go this year  but it was mixed quality before he took over.
  • Sales there were pretty poor for me but I think the people were looking for higher end work than I offered.  More importantly for you is that the location is a major wind tunnel if you are one the wrong side of the show.  The year I did it about every 30 minutes or so someone's tent lost the top or blew over.  I would be real hesitant to do this show with glass.
  • Paul, do a search for the art festival and you will find a couple of reviews with lots of follow-up comments.
