  • I have used battery powered LEDs hanging from the tent top - I bought them from http://www.nznature.co.nz/products/60/825/LED-Products/LED-Multipur... but I'm sure you can find something similar at a camping store near to you?  I had three and they worked quite well for an overcast daytime, though they may not be suitable for full dark selling at night.  They lasted for more than 2 days (about 8 hours each day)on the highest setting without changing batteries (even though they don't say that long on the website).
    • Interesting, hadn't thought of overhead lighting. My work is handwovens, and what I'd like is some kind of spot light to shine up at them. But in a daytime show, it's hard to get that effect...frankly, my colors look much richer indoors with electric lights, so trying to think how to pull this off in a tent, outdoors...any spotlight ideas?
      • These lights are a disc shape with a clip on the back for hanging, but you could certainly place them somewhere or make a stand for them and shine them up.   The only thing is that LEDs do add a bit of a blue hue - I prefer halogen for jewellery, but I needed some sort of light - these were the best I could find and I was pretty happy with them overall.  I'd still use normal lights and power in preference though!   I also obtained a couple of floor lamps that were LED - the key is to have LOTS of  LEDs - too few and they don't have much impact.

I'd be interested to hear of anything suitable you find.

        • Yes, I"m not crazy abou the blue hue -- warm light would be better; is that even possible with anything battery operated??
          • Not that I've found.  Perhaps you have to look a normal lights but bringing a marine battery along to run them?   I've seen discussions on these here.  Drawback is that they're HEAVY and will probably only last one day before needing recharging.
