I am interested in applying to the show in october (but I notice they have multiple shows year round in Chapin PArk and in Market Common Valor Park.

Any prioro opinions or first hand experiences about their show(s), organization and area would be helpful.

Thank you.

  • I've never heard anything good about it, sorry to say. Since it's a weekend thing for months on end, there's nothing special about it, almost like a farmer's market for art. I think the draw is that artists will take a vacation down there and try to squeeze in a show to defray expenses. I recall years ago, even Sunshine Artists had nothing positive to say about it, and those folks never met a show they didn't like.

I was down there about 5/6 years ago, and looked for the show. I saw a rag-tag collection of tents in a parking lot next to a park. If that was it, it was a bunch of newbies who got suckered into a show. I wouldn't waste the effort. You could stay home and give your work away, and lose less money.

    • Thanks Susan and Robert ... Plus,WOW, Robert, why don't you just tell us what you really feel?!? :-)

This post was from last year ... Fortunately, I never did the show; And, now, thanks to my friendly fellow festival peers, I will stay away from this show.

Do you know of any good shows in Nov-Dec 2012?  Florida or GA.

      • Heh, I was being polite ;-) Get me on a roll sometime, and the barbed harpoons come out along with the lightning bolts :-)

  • It was the worst show I ever did. It's not worth the "fill in a weekend" show. There is no parking except metered. There are homeless people in the park which the police make move out before the show starts. I ended packing up my booth every night. The promoters stay in the morning then leave the rest of the day. Hardly made my booth fee back.

I did the show in June.
