Absence.

S

orry I've been away so long. I've been putting pressure on myself to complete the present chapter of my autobiography (For my daughter and grandkids.) since it is highly illustrated with my photos I have been sorting and selecting those to be included. If I had know when I began what a job this would be I would never have started. Naturally, it contains photos of my work and service time as well as photos of our travels. Our family (me, wife and kids) spent a year in England with a Fulbright Grant, where I taught art. (1966/67) Our lives have been pretty much B.E. and A.E.

With approx. 8000 slides I am trying to edit and include many, deleting many others.

Regretfully I can no longer withstand the rigors and fun of an art fair.

Will still check in from time to time.

  • It sounds like your work kept you pretty busy over the years.  Are you putting your slides on CDs?  Is that what you are doing now?

    • Not as of now. That should come later. At present there is a huge sorting and inserting going on. I'm doing a lot of weeding and editing with PhotoShop Elements. Amazing what can be saved into very useable slide. Just finished the longest chapter and will soon begin another.
      • Well, that sounds like it will keep you very busy for a long time.  Busy is good.

  • Larry, what kind of photography did you do?
    • Just being a amateur in capabilities even after 75 years using a camera I took anything of interest. I liked scenic photography  and abstracts in particular. Having traveled a lot, that is my one boon and hazard as well. I created thousands of slides which now have to be searched and inserted in my document, but I just cannot ignore them for they express me. Today I use a digital camera and luckily can improve some of the hundreds of slides that need improvement. (Easier now.)I still shoot and enjoy both the shooting and the editing with Photoshop Elements.
  • Wow Larry,

Sounds like a MAJOR project!! But the daughter, Grandkids and future generations, will have a wonderful, and amazing memorial of you, from you. Glad you popped in to let us know! Keep us in the loop!

  • Welcome back Larry.  Glad you are keeping yourself busy.  What a nice project to do for your kids.  Well, if you aren't running off to Art Shows every weekend you ought to have a few minutes a day to pass on some of your knowledge to the newbies here.  I know they would appreciate it.  Don't stay away so long.  Share your knowlegde.
