Code of Conduct

Welcome to Art Fair Insiders.

Together we're building a friendly, worldwide community of people involved in the business of art fairs: artists, art fair organizers, and art fair patrons.

In order to encourage community interaction the following guidelines outline how everyone is expected to behave. Abiding by these guidelines will help our community and our individual careers flourish.

Additionally, failure to follow the guidelines below will result in being banned from the network.

1. Be Nice Presume the best, not the worst when others disagree with you. No one is here at Art Fair Insiders by accident - they are just as interested as you are in sharing information. Like email, text-based forum messages lose a lot of the nuance that face-to-face communication provides. So members should be sure to give the "benefit of the doubt" to other's intentions when interacting. No personal attacks and no inappropriate personal or adult topics or behavior, please.

2. Be Generous Share your expertise and others will share with you, too. The collective wisdom in this group is huge. Share your knowledge and you'll soon benefit from returned favors, too. (You'll also see that the most popular member contributors to the community are recognized publicly!)

3. Be Ethical Art Fair Insiders was started to put artists in touch with each other in order to further their professional growth and help them succeed in the art fair business. Anyone taking advantage of the free discourse on the site inappropriately (in our sole judgment) will be banned from the community.

4. Be thoughtful of others in voicing your political and religious beliefs.  In general those discussions do not belong on this site.

5. First and last names are required. All need to be responsible for their comments on the site. Anonymous posting is not allowed.

6. No Sales Pitches Please consider this a "Pitch Free Zone" where everyone can have fun together. So please no sales pitches, affiliate links, or blatant self-promotion. If you have a product, service, or event that you would like to promote to the community, please contact us about advertising on the site and in our newsletters or visit the Forum to post in the Classifieds section. (There is a $25 one time charge to sell goods in the classifieds. Details.)

That's it. The presumption is that everyone here is an adult and will behave like one.  (Which also means that this site and all related services are solely for people 18 years and older, please.)

Thanks for joining us.

BTW what do you artists think of designing tattoos?  I sell artwork that people buy and take down to the tattoo artist. I say "I don't know anything about that".

Would anyone care to discuss the ins and outs of doing art in farmer's Markets?  I find they are cheap, but people come looking for food.  Also they show me their tattoos because that is their total exposure to "art" in their lives, for the most part.  What's your take?  For the entire season in SW Michigan the Farmer's Market is only 80.00, that translates to 5.00 per day for table rent. There is a little roof and a given table.  Can't beat it with a stick, I say.

Hello to Art Fair Insiders. Thank you for allowing me to join your group. I have a fair amount of art show experience since showing since 1994 as an outsider and after 2006 as an outsider/academic kind of hybrid. Our art world has changed. Art Fair Insider Group members are knowledgeable, kind and passionate about displaying their art. By joining this group, I hope to become a bigger part of understanding by listening to your experiences and perhaps sharing my own.

I would like for any of you on the Insider to evaluate my application for Art Shows.  I have had the photos professionally enhanced to heighten my acceptance.  However, to date I have not been invited to 4 out of the 5 that I have submitted the attend.

However, I have been accepted to several venues while on the phone with the director while they visit my website.  www.simplydawn.com  I enjoy exhibiting and would love to be able to be accepted to venues of my choice.

I will accept your feedback as positive remarks.  Thank you for your time and energy.

Namaste',

Karen

Thank you, Connie.  I'm not very techno-savvy, so it may take me some time to figure out how to post a picture.  I'll work on it.

Thanks for the warm welcome, Connie! I'll do my best to be considerate, discreet, and helpful to my fellow artists. I was born optimistic-so no worries there!

Code of Conduct - well said.  If you don't mind, there is a typo "Addendum: 4. Be careful not carful".
