What are the best things about art fairs

Meeting new friend: fellow artists and collectors.

Best show ever and why

I have had so many best shows that I can't pick just one.

Worst show ever and why

I had many bad shows when I started out, especially the Mall Shows. But, I paid my dues and learned from all of the shows, both good and bad. Even a bad show can be fun when you meet new people and learn new things.

Who referred you to ArtFairInsiders.com? Please be specific.

I just found it by googling for art fairs.

What is one fun fact about yourself?

I can't think of any fun facts about myself! I must be very boring!

  • Hi Judy,

I just wanted to tell you about Susan Zimmerman who is also a cloth dollmaker and has just joined AFI also.  Go to the members page and look for her near the top...you two need to communicate.

  • Hi Judy -- are you still making dolls? Do you know Cassandra Graham? She is from Ohio and has been a doll maker for a long time, but she's been playing with/exploring heavily embellished jewelry lately. Also, Luisa Fredericy is on this site -- amazing work. See if you can find her. AND welcome ...

  • Oh, you're so welcome, Judy.  I have a Jane Austen "action figure" that a friend bought me a few years ago for a laugh and as part of her bio, it states that her weapon of choice is character assassination...I love that.  I also have a good friend who used to be part of our knitting group, The Knitwits, who was also a dollmaker.  We loved it when she would bring her latest creation to show us...how did you get started in that medium?

  • Welcome to Art Fair Insiders, Judy.  Thank you for joining us. I hope you’ll find the site helpful and that you’ll share ideas and ask questions. The site is only as good as the participants make it.  We have a lot to offer one another, experienced and newbie alike.

When you have a chance, please add a photo of yourself and stop by the "Discussions" area to introduce yourself to the rest of us.

Many topics have already been discussed. We suggest you try a search of your topic before you post your question. Click the SEARCH tab at the top of the page and “search” for your topic: tents, jury fees, Ann Arbor Art Fair, the name of a show, etc. You might be surprised that someone has already asked your question.

We also ask all new members to take a few moments to read our code of conduct. Here it is, under the Discussions tab. These are the guidelines that all members need to follow to keep the community useful and helpful to all.

Each of us is unique and has a gift to share that can help someone else. We all look forward to your sharing on ArtFairInsiders.com.

    Best wishes, Connie Mettler

p.s. The best way to make this system easy to use is to click on the "Follow-Email me" link at the bottom of each Forum discussion that interests you. That way the system will email you automatically whenever anyone responds. It's a great time-saver.

  • Hi Judy,

Welcome to Art Fair Insiders!  I'm pretty sure this is the first dollmaker I've welcome here...love your Jane Austen!  I think you'll enjoy this site and the camaraderie of fellow artists and artisans.  Take a look around and make yourself at home.  Thanks and continued success.
