Years in the Art Fair Business

40

First show ever

First show (also first sale) was at the Pirate's Alley Art Show in New Orleans 1970.

What are the best things about art fairs

I traveled the East Coast with my sister, her kids, my kids, and a variety of friends for years. The best parts were the shows on the shore(any shore) where the kids could swim and I could watch them from my booth. Now I take the grandkids. All have grown up with happy memories.

Best show ever and why

Coconut Grove in the early 80's. We had to block off our booth and hand out numbers to get in because we had such a feeding frenzy. Great sales (sold out). We were able to leave our empty booth with a thank you sign and drive down to the Keyes for the next day.

Worst show ever and why

Zillions of worst shows... Terrible weather, no sales, a flu that made me so sick I had to get a passing stranger to put my display back in the van. Or maybe when I was hit by a truck in the South Bronx, lost my van and all my sculptures,Icould go on and on.
