What are the best things about art fairs
being with like-minded people, going new places, adventures, creative stimulation, making money while having a good time!
Best show ever and why
Well, it was in Japan during the great economic times that Japan enjoyed. We took a number of artists to a international show in Tokyo where we represented ourselves as a gallery. Glass was new and readily accepted in Japan. My work was small and hung on the wall (they had small spaces to hang things, but not large places because their rooms open up and combine). They had money to spend and my work fit perfectly. Others did not do so well...where they had historical Japanese craft (fiber, clay, etc), they would not buy unless it met their customs. Anyway, great trip, great show and more money than I have made since.
Worst show ever and why
A show in May in Mississippi. Very hot with tornado actively on the way to the show. Almost no sales. This was recent. I decided to reconsider travel, setting up outdoors, relying on selling art for a living.
