What is one fun fact about yourself?
My tree images have graced book covers for major publishers including Scribner/Simon & Schuster, Crown Books, Random House, Harper Collins, and Bulfinch Press/Little, Brown & Co. His work even made a cinematic appearance in the 1999 Alfre
Woodard film, The Wishing Tree. My photographs are held in private and corporate collections nationwide, as well as public collections at the Louisiana State Museum,
the Louisiana Folklife Museum, and the New Orleans Museum of Art.
In 2016, I received a major grant from the Louisiana Department of Tourism to document and create an online self-guided live oak tour of the historic live oaks along Bayou Lafourche (www.liveoaktour.com)
My work is reflected in my six books:
• Heartwood – Meditations on Southern Oaks (1998, Bulfinch Press/Little, Brown & Co.)
• Across Golden Hills – Meditations on California Oaks (2013, Blue Oak Capital)
• Laura Plantation – Images and Impressions (2017, The Zoe Company)
• Quercus Louisiana – The Splendid Live Oaks of Louisiana (2019, 100 Oaks Press)
• Oak Alley Plantation – Portrait of a Southern Icon (2019, Mayhew Enterprises)
• Return to Heartwood – A Search for the Heart of Live Oak Country (2022, 100 Oaks Press)
