First show ever

First "real" show was Central Washington University's Warefair in December 2005, but we'd sold our work on small spaces provided by my FIL at gun shows in Reno & Las Vegas as well as at impromptu sales at yard sales, etc of friends.

What are the best things about art fairs

I enjoy the 1:1 interaction with customers and the comradrie of other artists.

Best show ever and why

Richland, WA Art in the Park 2011. Best sales yet, pleasant atmosphere, low booth fee (plus commission), appreciative customers.

Worst show ever and why

Bellingham, WA Pacific Arts Holiday Market 2011. Three 3-day weekends in a row far enough from home to require an overnight stay each weekend. Booth fees, commission, and travel expenses were barely covered by the sales we made and the promoters made no effort to help the situation or apologize for it. Promoters actually became defensive when approached with friendly suggestions to increase foot traffic (which was almost non-existant).
