What are the best things about art fairs

Meeting customers face to face, seeing and hearing how they respond to the work they engage, and knowing the work has found an appreciative home. Also, seeing well traveled friends on the circuit.

Best show ever and why

The easy answer is St Augustine Winter Arts Festival in December 2011 where I met my wife Andrea, who also had a glass booth. The answer the jury may be more interested in is a toss up... 2016 Tarpon Springs Art Festival because my wife and I won Best of Show which paid for the electrical installation in our new studio. The 2007 Gasparilla Art Festival because a woman fell in love with my work (single at the time) and spent several thousand dollars before the show officially opened. That purchase made me realize that I could make a living as an art festival artist. Quite honestly, every show is an opportunity to make a relationship that may shape my carreer in unforseen and unexpected ways.

Worst show ever and why

Cornhill... traveled from Florida to Rochester for a crowd that was listed as averaging 300,000 attendees. Got there and it was buy/sell everywhere and maybe 20,000 people showed up. Even though we got Best Glass and the weather was nice, that show was a real disappointment.

Who referred you to ArtFairInsiders.com? Please be specific.

Have heard about the group for years. But was trying to search for used propanels and it came up. So, sadly, no specific reference I could honestly give.

What is one fun fact about yourself?

I was a competitive gymnast for 13 years. (My wife thinks I am an amazing ribbon dancer.)
