First show ever
Local art/craft show in Wal-Mart parking lot on an extremely hot August day in 1991. Some of my pieces that were lacquered actually started to melt! But sales were really good. :-)
What are the best things about art fairs
Good weather, lots of interested people that appreciate artistic endeavor, meeting new artists, friends, and hopefully some good sales.
Best show ever and why
WAMM Fest 2009 - Extremely well publicized, organized and a great volunteer support staff! Even though the weather was cold and it rained for part of it (in August!) there was lots for people to do and the community came out in droves, music, wine, well selected artists, and yummy food made for a great weekend and my best sales ever (11 X booth fee) despite the weather.
Worst show ever and why
Cincy Pink Fest 2009 - The organizers had a falling out, so there was finger-pointing (by one of them) during the show, the spaces were not as advertised, (much smaller) it not publized well, no crowd, too many door prizes. Drove over 5 hrs, spent around $500 dollors on gas, fees, food and sold a whopping $50 of product. Location was awful!
