I have seen "photos of work in progress" showing up on more applications recently. Some ask for photos of your work area.  I would really need to clean mine up first!!
Do you have someone take a photo of you working or just unfinished work?
I would like to get some opinions on what you would send if this was required on an application.

  • I love all these cat photos.  Does anybody have any working dogs?

Ruth, does your cat ever try to get out of the camper?  I would be so afraid of losing mine on a trip.

    • Years ago I had a cockatiel named Sydney; she would sit on my shoulder while I painted.  Every once in a while she would get down on the table and try to pick up the brushes and end up walking in the paint (acrylics).  She also liked to read, while I would be looking at a book, she would sit moving her head from side to side like she was reading.  Then she wanted to get on the page and try to pick the letters up off the page.  She also had very good aim.  She would get small pieces of paper, usually torn from the paper towel I was using, walk over to the edge of the table, adjust her position a few times…a little to the left…no a little more to the right, and drop the paper in the trash can.  Then she would come running back for another piece.

    • You have a really cute assistant too Linnea....all these furbabies who "help" us get our work done :)

  • You have a lovely assistant too Ruth....love all the "kitty at work" pics....keep them coming :)

  • I have three cats.  I also work as a computer programmer from home as well as do digital photography with major modifications.  In my office I have two computers, two printers, two external monitors, seven disk drives.  As I told the clerk at Best Buy yesterday I have USB port extenders plugged into USB port extenders.  Up until yesterday all of those cables and power strips were under my desk in a jumbled mess.  My desk is in front of the window.  All the cats love to sit in the window to get the morning sun.  And then when it gets later they like to sit on the floor under the window.  And sometimes they fight to determine who gets the best window or floor spot.    The other day I went to print a photo and found the main printer wasn't connected somehow.  Something had come unplugged in the jumbled mess under my desk most like likely from a cat argument.  So yesterday I went shopping and got myself a stand for storing dvds and put all the external stuff to the left of my desk way from the window.  I also put an old end table under the desk for a double decker window spot.  I then took the back of the dvd stand, which I didn't put on, and leaned it against the stand for more protection against exploring cats.  We'll see what happens when the sun comes up.

    • Allison - you made me chuckle. We do have to be careful with wires, they are a favorite chew toy of Tazzy. Even better, she just LOVES cell phone chargers, I don't think we have any that do not have kitty teeth marks.

      • I had a cat once that liked to chew on electrical cords. I figured that wasn't good :) so I put hot sauce on them. It seemed to cure her of the habit.

  • Ellie, a couple moths ago we adopted "Lucky Louie" who was rescued from a feral litter down at Palmer Lake, CO. Pictures are on my FB page but he is a really dark, almost black, tabby with a really long tail. It has been fun watching him adapt to the other two cats and three big dogs. He and the Siamese are real buddies. He scoots around the studio peeking out from under the benches. Loves to be petted and have his tummy rubbed. He has made a nest in sheets covering my lathe.
    • That is very sweet, Richard. Mine love to nest on my chair in my workshop or on top the laundry basket!
