Festival of the Arts is a unique show featuring a culinary contest, restaurant tastings, fine art, and much more! It takes place July 14 -15, 2012, on the Green in Virginia Beach’s Town Center.
The festival runs from 12 p.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday and Sunday. Admission is free for the art show and culinary contest. There is also a flying colors performance painting show by world-class artist John Gowdy.
On Saturday, there will be a "Fork & Brush Culinary Creation Championships." This contest will team a culinary student and chef with and a visual artist. The chef and student will be provided with a bag of supplies, garnish, and décor that they will use to create their culinary work of art. Their creation would be complimented by a visual work of art created by their artist counterpart. The competition will be timed and juried. The contest will award a first, second, and third place winner in the following categories:

On Sunday from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m., we will have a “Taste of the Town” contest. It is a contest that will determine the best dish and crown the best chef in Town Center. While sampling dishes from the restaurants, each ticket holder will have a judging card with the list of participating restaurants, the name of their dish, and a place where they can rank their favorites. The contest will award a first, second and third place winner as well as honorable mentions.
Tickets will be available for sale on-site at the event. Tickets are $3 and are limited!

I'll be in the show! There aren't too many artists - I think about 32 booths. Sometimes this is great though.... I'll let you know how it goes.
