Big, big weekend for very cool holiday events across the country.

The best of them all: The One of a Kind Show and Sale in Chicago with 600 exhibitors selling their hearts out to the nation's best buyers (Chicagoans).  http://www.oneofakindshowchicago.com/  (just clicked on that link -- the site is so busy it took forever to load, might even crash)

New event in Atlanta -- we'll see if this works: Shoppe Artisan at the Galleria at the Cobb Center. http://shoppeartisan.com/

Where to be to really see the buying and selling of art in action: Art Basel Miami. Learn more about this extravaganza: http://hyperallergic.com/256635/your-concise-guide-to-the-2015-miami-art-fairs/

The Potters Market in Southfield, MI, 130 potters show their stuff: http://hyperallergic.com/256635/your-concise-guide-to-the-2015-miami-art-fairs/

My other favorite for the weekend is Winterfair, hosted by Ohio Designer Craftsmen, in Columbus, OH at the Expo Center. Great shopping here - all price ranges.

Over the years I've taken part in Winterfair (over 20 years) and shopped it once my art fair exhibiting days were past and also attended the OOAK Show in Chicago. If these two shows don't put you in the holiday spirit it can only be because you did 25+ art fairs this year ;)

Family is coming in for me with lots of catching up to do. How about you?

  • I did both Winterfair shows again this year.  Friday in Columbus they had a record crowd..ran out of shopping bags.  I did better this year than last year and had customers come back the next day to buy more.

    • Yess!! Glad to hear this. I've done that show almost 20 times and shopped it in recent years ... love the facility, the organization and the Columbus shoppers.

  • Hi Connie,

Thank you so much for sharing! It sounds like a lot of events to attend to. I also love Holiday events. There are quite a few in Boston, but I am still trying to pick up a few interesting ones! :)

    • Let us know what you find, Jessica. There are so many boutique events at this time, a good way to pick up some extra sales if you have the right work.

  • The "old elf" is getting this one done for a little girl's Christmas. The inlays are dark purple but may show up as blue. Appetizers and wine at our house for neighborhood progressive dinner tonight. Got to get busy for that.301670333?profile=RESIZE_1024x1024301670995?profile=RESIZE_1024x1024

    • That is so nice! Lucky little girl.

(figure out where the banana bread came from?)

      • Yes, It was a neighbor across the road. Her well went out and she need help digging track for truck to get into well site. I had forgotten all about that.

  • OOAK show again!

    • Wish I could make it and visit with you again this year, Lucia. Hope it is great. I tried to check out something on the OOAK website yesterday and it was really slow. Think everyone in the region was clicking into it. Such great buying energy.

I had an inquiry today from someone with this question:

"How can I find an artist that can cloth 12” mannequins"

      Any suggestions?

      • Just got back to the hotel after day 2--show is going well for us so far (fingers crossed for the weekend). The crowd seemed good to me--particularly today there seemed more people than usual for a Friday--that could be my spot this year which is on a main aisle which helps. Wish you could make it too-maybe next year!

Does the person want someone who will design the clothes or just sew them for them? If its just construction, I think any competent seamstress would be able to do it--its not particularly hard to sew in miniature.
