I just completed my Zapplication for the WSAF.  Just wanted to say that for November and December they are offering an early bird special and you can save $10 by applying now.  I'm glad they are using Zapp this year, it made the application process SO much easier.

  • Oooh! Cool! I like this show!

  • Is this the Ludington show in the summer? As I understand it they really made it smaller in 2013 and cleaned out all the "let's fill all the spaces" stuff. The new director of the Ludington Art Center is Corinn Van Wyck who used to run the E. Lansing Art Fair.

Show directors try to get those applications in early by offering these deals -- few artists take them up on it. It sounds like a nice deal, artists complain about application fees but then when they are really low, they don't bite on it. I know, I can name several directors who have said this. Thanks for the heads up, Kristine.

    • Hi Connie-

The Ludington Art Center, now the manager of the WSAF, is keeping this a fine art and craft show, returning it to its roots.   I live in Ludington and it was a small fair last year but all the artists I spoke with had a great show, sales-wise, so I decided to apply this year.  The organizers want the show to grow but in the right way.

      • There were some very bad things in this show in 2012 and many bad comments, BUT, someone was listening and they made all the changes you would want a show to make, made it smaller and carefully edited it down.

I do understand that not everyone in the community was happy with this decision (where did the schlock go?) and "I didn't get in. I always do this show", etc. But an art center needs to keep an appropriate image.

        • Connie- as a participant in 2013 - the show did right the ship and my sales were good...

          • Good to hear that, Scott. Plus, who can find fault with spending the weekend in this wonderful beach town?

            • I know, it was like a mini vacation for us!
