Washing the Canopy Top

I am wondering if anyone has washed their canopy top in an industrial washing machine?  I recently washed my mesh walls and they turned out very decent. Sure beat Flourish's idea of washing in the bathtub (my back would not have handled that well)

Now I would like to throw the Trimline top in a washing machine using Cold water.  (I have spread it out on the grass in the past to wash, but I now live in the high desert and all we have is dirt and stickers on the ground)

  • I own an Encore II EZ-UP. I will be taking mine off the frame after next weekend. I will take it to the commercial laundry, and using their triple loader, will wash it. I have done so every winter since purchased. I dry it on the frame for a few days, then pack away for the winter. However, when storing for winter, I do not leave it on frame- this causes wear in the areas where it folds while on frame. I store it in it's own water and bug proof, container/tub/tote.

I also wash the sidewalls and pack them with it. Just before spring shows (FEB) I will have it waterproofed for next season.  In the past I have tried pressure washing, but found this can be hazardous to my yard, and it doesn't quite come clean. Pitch is tough to remove from white canopies, but I found that spraying the pitch spots before removing from frame with Goo Gone works well. Then just wash in the largest washer.

  • I doubt it would hurt, but have never tried it.  I DID, just today, use a power washer (free, from my condo association) and it worked pretty well too.  You can rent power washers from a rental place for about $25 a day, I think.
