I noticed on the application for the Tulsa International Mayfest that they ask the question "Do you want to be in the craft market if you aren't juried into the art market" or something to that effect. Has anybody ever been in that section? I was waitlisted last year for the juried section, but didn't end up getting in. Would it be worth it to be in the craft market section?

For what it's worth I walked that show in 2008 -- actually happened to be there for a different reason and who can pass up an art festival. At that point I think I had exhibited at a couple of shows but had virtually NO experience with shows so take that into consideration.
As I recall Mayfest itself had a handful of "sections," music, art, craft but as a visitor (remember it's 2008) the dividing line wasn't really all that evident. High quality craft, fine art. I don't remember a separate "Craft Market." Didn't care for the music, but as I recall it was a name band. Insanely crowded, and even then I noticed the folks actually buying (again, remember it's 2008). I'm a bit vanilla on the events with name entertainment -- are the folks there for the band or the art -- but again, I noted packages.
What I found amusing even then was that one block over there was another event, unaffiliated, run by the local art league. Only members invited, great art (and craft). Even I could see the war coming. I would be interested in how it eventually shook out. With your description I'm wondering if the art league took over crafts leaving the art for Mayfest.
And if you really want to check out some "out there" folks, look for the Art Car parade that weekend. It, too, is one block from Mayfest. Those folks never got past 1968. Tons of fun.
