Trailer recomendations?

I am looking int buying a new cargo trailer, probably a 6x10. Any recommendations on brands, or brands to avoid? I have looked at a doolittle trailer, and it seemed to be built pretty well. I have seen haulmarks other places, and they seemed on the cheep side.

  • Gregg,

Depending on where you are in the country, you may have a local maker of good quality trailers as opposed to a "national brand" . We did just that with an outfit called Express Trailers in the St Pete, Fl area. Well made and great service. One thing we found was that having what they call a torsion axle instead of leaf spring suspension made the trailer ride a whole lot softer over rough spots in the road and would not bounce nearly as much. We also went for a little more height inside at 6' 6" so you did not have to bend over when inside it. The diamond plate shielding on the bottom half of the outside front kept the trailer looking good after enduring road debris too. We liked the barn style doors as ours had a low floor to start with instead of the ramp door. Just some thoughts. Hope it helps.
  • We got a 8 x10 RC (Royal Crown) last year in June with a landscapers package so it has a thicker floor.  We lucked out and got it for $1200.00 off because it had been on the lot for a year.  It has the flat front and the side door near the front.  It also has the fold down door that acts as a ramp for loading and unloading.  We did have to replace a wheel hub cap because someone took it off at a show.  The dealer told us it happens all the time, so now we carry a spare one just to be on the safe side.
