  • Store and forward does not work for higher ticket items.

  • I use an iPad with the Square Stand https://squareup.com/stand. I also use their register and printer. I started using Square in November of 2010 and I have not used any other since. I have never had any holds or limits and my funds have always been there the next business day. I only wish they would come up with a store and forward system.

    • I do not think that will ever do that because of fear to fraud. I learned if I can not swipe the card I need ti use intuit for entry the card manually. If you do not have the zip code or security code correct the square wont approve the sale. Always get a telephone number to call the customer.

  • For what it's worth here is my $0.02 on The Square.....I used it at the beginning of last year's show season and quickly grew to hate it.  I was being hit with limits on what I could charge on it, and the Intuit wasn't much better.  I used it with an Ipad mini and it worked just fine.  What I ended up doing was going with ProCharge Mobile, which is the same concept and it is through my bank.  The fees aren't a flat fixed rate, but they are really reasonable and there aren't limits on how much you can charge on it.  If you would like info, I can provide that on how to sign up for it.  Just a quick real world example, at Brookside I had charged up my limit for The Square....I did not know this until I was midway through the show....so I had to wait 30 days for the money!!  Not Cool!!

    • From the Square website:

"SAN FRANCISCO – November 13, 2013 – Square, the company making commerce easy for everyone, has eliminated holds and deposit limits on manually entered transactions in the U.S. Funds from both swiped and non-swiped payments will be deposited in merchants’ bank accounts within 1-2 business days, a crucial advantage for local sellers who typically don’t take payments in person, such as caterers and contractors. The move is an important step to further remove barriers to growth for local businesses, and makes Square an industry leader in eliminating deposit limits and related holds for customers."
      • This why I keep using them and look forward to see how they fix the chip problems starting next year.

    • That's what I thought also, the first time I used square I knew I was going over the $1000 limit. I emailed them about that and they said it was only for non swiped charges
    • I thought square only had a limit for manually entered transactions.
  • You need to have the lateless square reader. It should be the thinner one. It was post all old sqaure reader wont work anymore after June. I think if you order a new one before you purchase a i pad. Now if you have money to burn you will better of with the pad and get the full features from square. Also always have another provider or system with you. In high volume period square wont work as well as intuit.

    • Thanks for the tip. Will have to see if square will give me the updated reader for free.
