Hey All,

Been looking into taking credit cards and found a company that scans the credit card vs swiping a credit card or using a reader. This way you don't need a reader and have the storage on your phone when you get a signal. Has anyone used?

Flint

Any help would be great! Yall are so smart at the money end!

  • If I don't have a signal I just switch the Square to a "store and forward" mode, and upload the transactions when a signal is available.

    • Chris this may sound crazy - (if you only new who you were dealing with..ha)

Would it be cheese ball to tell them you have a discount for cash?

      • Gas stations do it all the time. One price for cash, another for credit.

  • Keeping an image of a person's credit card sounds almost illegal.  I am not sure i would be cool with that.  Don't think customers would be either.

    • No the program uses an APP digital scanner. Again I am not endorsing this company just trying to accept cards if there is no signal. The technology is always changing and this may be something to consider.

      FLINT info..

No image scan or other sensitive card information are ever stored on your device or on Flint’s servers and all information transmissions are encrypted. Our patent pending scanning technology, only captures the main 16 digits of the card, we are never taking an image of the entire card with details like the consumers name or expiration date. The card number is extracted from the image scan by our proprietary recognition software, there is no human intervention to read or analyze the image – ever. And to re-iterate all information is immediately purged from your phone as soon as it’s transmitted to Flint. In addition, every transaction is run through a real time fraud detection screen prior to submission for authorization. This protects both you and the general consumer audience from misuse of our service.

Square is %2.75 and %3.5 for manual

      Flint is

Debit Card Transactions (VISA & MasterCard): 1.95% per transaction.

Credit Card Transactions (VISA & MasterCard): 2.95% per transaction.

      • If you use the store function with Square, it's still 2.75% when you upload. But of course. you are responsible for any declined card. And smart shoppers aren't giving out their real phone numbers anymore. I haven't given out my real number in over 20 years.
