Strip cuts

Is anyone out there a great strip cutter?? Consistent, equal strips?? Are you using a strip cutter tool? I have done strip cut plates but it is a bear for me to get them, consistently equal. Therefore, I do not do them very often. The price of the item goes up a bit given the time to get the strips done.

  • Hello Deborah, what do you use the strips for that you cut with a strip cutter.  It sounds like it is glass but what do you use glass strips for?

  • We also use a commercial strip cutter.  And for the life of me, I can't remember the brand name.  Galastar maybe??  It was $35.00, and we get PERFECT strips every time!!
    • thanks for the advice

      will check this out

  • Deborah,   Warm Glass also sells a great strip cutter, so check it out.
    • oh, good point.  I've used it and it's stellar if you're going to be doing a lot of strip cutting.
  • speaking from experience, practice, practice, practice.  Have you been over to the Warm Glass board at warmglass.com?  You'll be able to find lots on strip cutting in the archives there plus it's a good group of folks...
    • thanks

I will look in the archives

  • I can only guess...  Glass? Clay? Fabric? Matboard? Plates is a clue, I know....so I guess that means not fabric or matboard... maybe?!   :)  I use a bench shear for my strips. I saw pretty straight, but oh, how tedious. But somehow I think that is not what you mean.
