The Spicewood Arts Society is sponsoring Arts Round-Up 2012, a fine art festival, on October 20-21, 2012 in Spicewood, Texas.
This is the ninth year for the Arts Round-Up and has become a popular show with artists and guests alike. The fine art festival will be held on the grounds of LaCabana Grill on TX Hwy 71. The beautiful oak grove has picnic tables, attractive plantings, a water fountain, a children's play area, a covered outdoor food service area and of course the restaurant itself. Spicewood is a rapidly growing area situated just west of Austin and conveniently central to Johnson City, Marble Falls, Lakeway, and Bee Caves. In addition to its easy access from the very busy Hwy 71, this location is very near to large and growing upscale housing areas.
Central Texas artists working in all 2D and 3D media are encouraged to apply for this very cost effective show. Spicewood Arts Society is an all volunteer, non-profit organization dedicated to supporting the visual, performing and literary arts in the Spicewood Community. I wondered about this show too... It looks pretty small on the website, not many artists participate. I wonder about the traffic too, due to the location. I am not convinced the Austin area is a great area for fine arts, but maybe it is just my experience that was not so hot.
I have been told it's a "filler" show for when bigger, more pure art shows don't come through. $100 and under crowd usually.
