Propanel Canopy Hooks

I am thinking of adding these to my set-up. I have asked a couple of artists about them and so far the reviews are good. I do have two concerns.... 1) Will it rub and wear a hole in my lightdome tent since the sides are very snug (I have only seen them used on a EZ up and a Trimline)? 2) Is it a good thing to even have my panels attached to the tent? Yes, they add the weight of the panels to the tent but if the tent was to blow away there might be a chance that some of the panels and artworks might be left behind. Thank you

  • I use the hooks on my LiteDome canopy. No rubbing, no problem. I'm pretty sure that without these hooks I would have lost my display in the 70mph gusts in Fort Worth this spring. More weight anchoring the canopy is good. I also like the stability they provide. Anchoring the canopy to my panels really helps prevent my frame (tent) from racking so badly.
    • How many hooks do you use? I was wondering if one hook per panel would work so that I can still use a couple support bars. Also are they easy to get in and out of the panel?

1 per panel is fine, actually I think I only have 7.   They can be inserted through the support bars so that isn't an issue.  They easily slide in and out prior to being locked in place.

    • My husband weights down our tent with very heavy cement pails-and, when possible/allowable-doggie stakes it into the ground(not many shows will allow that), bungies the propanels very tightly to the tent. Criss-crosses the stablizing bars across the tent in a sturdy cross circular pattern.

But these hooks, I think that that should be our next purchase......they look great, with the right amount of positioning, I'm sure that will help prevent any type of 'panel walking'. Great ;-)

  • So what do these propanel canopy hooks look like? I went to the propanel website, but couldn't locate them. How strong are they? How much weight can they hold? Are they just for canvases, or can other objects hang from them?

    • they screw into the top leg of the propanel and then the hook part goes around the tent canopy bar.  It isn't to hang things from.
      • oh, so it's a 'stabilizing' type item. To use in conjunction, or in addition to, a regular stablizing bar that we have going across the top of our propanels (that we use to attached to the other side of the booth). It's just a firming up support system......right?

Guess you could use it instead of the stabilizing bars but I use both.  I use one on every other panel, so not on every one.

  • I use the hooks with my knock-down ProPanels.  I think they give extra rigidity to my display when it's windy.  Not sure about this advantage with the solid panels.  I did have the spring go in one of the hooks after a few shows, but the others seem to be holding up well.  My hooks rub a bit on the canopy top, too, but after a season of use I'm not seeing any wear.  I'm not using the same brand of tent as you are, though.
