Hi everyone, I am looking for a show to fill my July 4th weekend. Can't decide which one to choose from the following three: Lakeshore Art Festival, Muskegon, MI West Shore Art Fair, Ludington, MI Evavston Lakeshore Art Festival, IL Hers are the factors of me: I do realistic paintings (still life and landscape) and I've done quite a few seascapes recently. These shows all sit right by the lake... I live in Indy 3-4 hours to the shows. We will be bringing out 5-year-old daughter so hopefully there will be kids-friendly activities to keep her busy (fireworks, anywhere?). I will attend Fountain Square art Festival in Evanston, IL in June. Anybody know how's the July show compare to this one? Any info about these shows will be so much appreciated!

  • I wouldn't bother going to Fountain Square in Evanston in June.  It is run by a company that has little regard for quality art.  It has been hit by more and more buy/sell each year.  There are good artists there but you don't always notice them because of all the bad stuff.

Supposedly the Chamber of Commerce wanted the show to be more like its former incarnation but if Special Events is still running it, it doesn't seem as if that will be the case.

    • Thank you for the input. I've already confirmed with them that I will be going. Wish I see this earlier!

      • Sabrina, I hope I am wrong and you have a fabulous show!!

  • The show is Muskegon is part of other activities. I know your little girl will enjoy that -- lots of families out having fun. Ludington is more an art fair, not part of a festival.

    • Thank you Connie! You are always helpful!

I will probably choose Muskegon for it's closer to home and more activities for our little one. July 4th is meant to be fun!

  • Evanston Lakeshore Art Festival is early August, not 4th of July weekend. Always has been. Your post caught me by surprise, so I double checked. I have not done the other ones.

    • Linnea, thank you for correcting me. In fact it's good news for me. Less struggle heheee...Hope to see you there!
