Did Mt. Dora past week end and the crowds were out in record numbers and they were BUYING. Most artists that I talked to, and it was a lot of them ,all reported good sales in excess of $2,000. I got to run and deposit checks but I will give a more complete report later today. Cheer up there is hope on the horizon--Aloha, Nels. As I was saying...... People were out early at 9 am buying. They had multiple packages in their hands. Only one person haggled with me over price and I still made the sale for $300, so that was refreshing. Three jewelers who have all been around for years had real good sales--over $3k. All the photographers were very happy. Ceramicists made good sales all day long. The only people who did not do well were artists selling cutting edge work. This is a very traditional buying crowd. We had perfect weather after a week of low 30s in Florida. I think this really helped to bring out the crowds. This is a strong show.In 25 years of doing it off and on I have never had a bad show except when it rained all weekend in 1987. The next two weekends in Florida should be a real "tell" with the Grove,Artigras, St. Stephens, Naples and Key West all coming up. There is definitely hope-- to give a little perspective, I made more at Mt. Dora than the three shows combined that I did in January--Aloha Nels
