I'm a Chicago based jewelry artist in need of expanding my show reach. Like many have commented in other threads, Chicago is a highly saturated market. You can find a multitude of shows on any given weekend in the city and suburbs. It's very difficult to find a decent show at times. Because there are so many, I'm not sure any are very special.
I'd like to start doing shows away from home; but not too far away! I know I'm probably too late for most shows this season, but I haven't got a clue what might be a decent show to try. I'm thinking of Indiana, Michigan, Wisconsin, maybe Iowa and Missouri. Also, I'm looking for mid-size shows or smaller, surprise shows that are worth the road trip. I'm not sure I could jury into the larger main shows at this time. Just want to get my feet wet and see how show travel agrees with me. I gotta get outta Chicago!
