Anyone have a recommendation for  areas to stay in between shows?  (Vero Beach and Orlando areas)   Name of a town or specific lodging?  (could stretch the budget a bit for w/in walking distance of the beach)

Don't know the Florida area at all, so any help would be appreciated!

Thanks

  • Vero is kinda expensive. Your best bet is to just Priceline around Orlando if you don't need the beach. The hotels north of Winter Park along I-4 are usually fairly inexpensive during the week. Orlando is only about an hour from Cocoa Beach if you want to spend a day at the beach - it's the destination of choice for many Orlando residents. Captain Jacks on the beach has decent grouper.

The area around Titusville and Merritt Island is very nice, too. It's not as 'beachy', but there are tons of birds in the Merritt Island and Cape Canaveral wildlife preserves. Manatees as well. You might find better deals over there, than at the destination beaches like Cocoa or Vero.

    • Thanks for the help, Jim. I've been spending a lot of time looking at  lodging-  I'll look into the areas near the preserves- they sound like great destinations that I never would have known or thought to check.   Of course, the beach is such a draw, as I'm coming from the cold northeast.  Be tooling around Fla doing shows for most of March- will need to feel that sand btween the toes at some point!

Captain Jacks is now on my list- nothing like fresh catch on the beach!

  • Sorry, should have posted this under hotels tips and lodging...

    • That is not a problem, Shaari. The category is easily changed. Go to the top where it says "art show information", beside that it says "change" - pull down on that and choose the correct category.
