We are just finishing packing and driving down to Louisville today. Tomorrow is set-up and the show begins Friday morning. I hope my fellow AFI members will stop in and say ... HELLO!

Booth WE-946 at the West End Baptist Church. On Fri, Sat, and Sun at 11am ... I will be doing a demo of how to tie fully-knotted rosaries from yarn in the St. James Court Demonstration Tent. The tent is on the North Green of SJC.

ON THE ROAD AGAIN ...

  • I am local to Louisville, I usually do St. James but didn't this year. I went and looked up Lois. It was great to meet someone I had only talked to on AFI.

As a silversmith I was really impressed with her thoughtful use of color and shaped beads for her rosaries. Since they were so thoughtfully produced, she included detailed explanations in the packaging so the buyers could realize the meaning of each bead.

Hope the show was good for you Lois!

    • Robin,

I am moving kinda' slow today ... there is not one part of my body that does not hurt. OUCH!

Yes, I did have a good show and made contacts with many people interested in my work. It was a thrill to have two ladies run (yes, run) into my booth and say, "I have been looking for you. I saw your work on the list of artists for St. James." Wow ... that was a great feeling. More later ... I can hardly see right.

Thank you for coming to see me, Robin. You visit was one of the highlights of the show.

      Love,

      Lois

      • St. James Court is a great show. Much of the work was fantastic ... a lot of the work was very good ... some work was okay ... and ... of course there was a booth or two that had me wondering ... "What were they thinking?"

Robin, with you experience and since you saw my booth--can you offer a review. Suggestions? The Good, the Bad, and the Ugly? I'd really love it if you'd give me the gift of your input.

Likewise, please say more about "thoughtful use of color and shaped beads." Yes, I do have a vision for the use of color and the shape of the beads used for any given rosary. However, I don't see it as someone from the outside seems my designs. Can you tell me more about what you saw? How did it make you feel? Did something give you a particular emotional response? Did something trigger the "I love that" response in you? If so, what was it. Again, please give me the benefit of someone seeing my work for the first time. What was good and that I should keep doing? What gave you a negative feeling and I should stop doing. Just anything and everything that would give me a better understanding of the public reaction or potential reaction.

        Thank you,

        Lois

  • Hope the weather is good, that is a lot of hours outside if it isn't. When we were doing the show I always went over to the Baptist Church to get some lunch, just a tip for the rest of you participating as the lunch counter in the court can get a little old after three days...

    Make money, Lois.

    • Connie,

You were so right about the food. One of the booths at West End had the best Atlantic Cod I have ever had.

      Lois

  • Have a great show WIllie Nelson..er...I mean Lois!
