I would like to know by anyone who has been a juror or somehow actually whould know on whether nudity in color has ever been perhaps shown to be a negative as a submission piece. I would like my mermaid to be in my submissionxs but not if I risk a lower score. My mermaid is in my afi photo albulm. I ask because i  come across customers not perchasing my mermaids because they have nipples. I asked another artist about it, she said she puts shells on the boobies now because of the continued comments. Is this really a problem or am i just getting some strange comments coming my way

  • You could always just tailor your submission photos for your audience. Like, a more fine art show and/or a more liberal area probably won't have an issue with nipples. But a less academic show and/or a more conservative area, maybe leave the topless mermaids out, you know?

    • Yes, well that kinda is the strange thing, in truth all of my women except one is topless. For some reason once I color my ladies blue or red suddenly they aren't human and their nipples don't matter.

      • I'd chalk it up to people are weird :)

  • Well I agree, but I could choose a different image if it is a problem. I would still make my pieces just not use them for Jury shots. I would like to use it because I like this piece. Sorry all for bad spelling, I have a tablet I am using and I am getting strange letters showing up without me catching it in time to edit them out.

  • I would think it would end up being the personal likes of each juror just as it is with any other medium. some will like nipples, some won't...some like one style and not another. You cannot please everyone and you should just create what you feel from inside and let it show in your work.
