Insurance for teaching classes

I am thinking about teaching jewelry making classes. Can anyone give me guidance on insurance to cover me in case someone burns themselves with a torch? I have ACT insurance for shows with my other business, but my sister and I would teach under a different company name.

  • Did you check RLI? They offer home business insurance, this might fall into one of their categories.

We always had a separate liability policy through our independent insurance agent with Auto-Owners. We got a decent discount because we also had our auto and homeowners through them.

    • You need some liability. I have always carried that, it's at least $1 million coverage, I think more. It cost maybe a few hundred dollars, and getting less liability does not cost much less, so get the higher amount. Mine is through State Farm.

  • Following.
