  • We had the brightly colored glass dishes with the propanel walls and shelving setup. We were about 1/2 block down from the office on the other side of the street :)

  • and BTW there were at least a dozen artists (again) in Tulsa who got wiped out by the wind on Saturday night...some of it was tents flying into other tents causing the damage. Winds over 50 MPH..

    • We had some nasty storms. I live by okc airport. My arts trailer was empty but it only pushed it sideways while picking up my kid's very large SAMs club wooden play set and tossed it 40 feet into my pickup. I would have seen you at paseo as I went out and was a patron.

  • We did get into Paseo....we got called the morning we were leaving for Tulsa. Both were very good shows for us, despite the (Moore) tornado hitting just 5 days before the show. For Paseo nice location, very good attendance, serious buying crowd, extremely well organized and very artist friendly promoters. All in all, very impressed so hopefully we will get in again next year :)

  • Thanks Stewart...we were waitlisted for Paseo so still keeping my fingers crossed that we might get called last minute. Will let you know if we do and how the show is...

    • Please let me know.  Several artists told me to consider both the Oklahoma City Festival of the Arts (begins this Tuesday), as well as the Paseo fair.  I hope you do get in.

Your heads up on the wind is well heeded.  Stillwater delivered on the wind both days this weekend.  It was unrelenting and while the canopy handled it fairly well (I placed the legs inside 2 concrete blocks at each corner as well as another block attached to the roof at night), I feel as if I was beat up.  It's not something I want to become accustomed to.  Again, good luck with Paseo.

      • Did you get into paseo? How was it? I am local and have gotten into decent shows (bayou/houston) but can't seem to get into paseo.

I spoke with the contact person from the Stillwater show and was told that if you pay your next year fee at he show, you automatically get in. Thus, may be applying for spots where there are no openings in your medium. Same with okc, if you sell a certain amount ( they take a percentage), you are automatically in for the next year.
  • This is such a hard choice, Stewart, and to me depends a lot on where you live or if you're stringing a few shows together. Tulsa Mayfest is a long-established event, probably the premier outdoor event in that city. There are long hours and chance of iff-y weather, and yet ... The KC show is relatively new, in a cool entertainment district, so if you have work that appeals to younger buyers who enjoy the KC night life (and this group loves the art fairs in that town), then that might be the right choice.

What have you decided to do?

    • I chose the Kansas City festival.  My undergraduate degree was completed in the Kansas City area and I have had several offers of places to stay.  That was the factor that drew me to Kansas City. I'll be sure to write a review once I complete that festival.

Thanks to you and Pauline for responding.

      • Great reason for choosing that one, Stewart. I've not had any feedback on the show, but to get to go back to a familiar area and reconnect with folks and make money... what's not to like?
