Hi Everyone, I am new to this site and thus far am enjoying it. I enjoyed reading the posts on the Mt. Dora show as I participated in that show as well.

But for now, I would love to find out any info anyone my have in reference to the Jacksonville Fine Art Show, Fl. Show dates: March 24th and 25th, 2012. Would be great to hear from anyone who did this show last year or had a buddy who did it. This would be a tremendous help to me.

Thanks a bunch, Virginia AKA Ginny

  • I'd be interested as well, Ginny. I posted the same question a couple of months ago when I was deciding whether or not to apply to this show but didn't receive much response. I decided to do the show anyway to get a couple of weeks head start on the spring season.

    • Barry, thanks for responding. I was talking to a neighbor artist at the Mt. Dora art show and her response about the show was less than glowing. She was a crafter ( not Fine Art ). She had jelly spreaders and salad utensles  embellished with sea glass and attached with silver wire. Some embellished dog dishes and small stain glass pieces. She felt that the crowd was not a buying one. Some artist next to her sold nothing. She said she has a portrait friend that lives in Jacksonville and her friend told her that their appears to be a lack of sophistication towards fine art. She told me a lot of young people with baby carriages attended the show last year. She did ok because her price points start at about $30.00. But even at that she just did ok. Her travel distance is not far. My expenses run high as have to rent a van, pay hotel, etc. So I am not sure if this is one for me. Too bad I payed for the booth space already. Lets hope that someone else has done the show and can give us some feed back before I  finally decide.

I spoke to the fella at the Chamber twice ( Contact for the show - Ken ) He told me that all the artists went home happy?????

If you find out anything please pass it on, Thanks, Ginny ( Pastel Landscape Painter)
