In Memoriam - Walt Majewski

I received a phone call this morning from a friend of my friend Walt Majewski informing me that Walt had died on October 24 from cancer.

Walt was a portrait artist who set up under a big umbrella at art fairs and did custom portraits of the show goers. Not many of the "big" shows allow such work these days, but what Walt was doing was one at a time originals and thrilling the people who got a chance to "sit" for him.

He was a fixture at Royal Oak, MI's, Arts, Beats & Eats since its inception. People would be waiting there for his arrival. We loved him at that show and made sure he had a good space every year. In 2014 he told the staff that he probably would not be returning in 2015 because of tongue cancer.

Here's a good story about Walt  and his work from WXYZ.com: http://www.wxyz.com/news/region/oakland-county/artist-returns-to-arts-beats-eats-year-after-year

Oh, why did I get that call? It turns out I am one of 73 beneficiaries in Walt's will! Each of us is to receive a CD with his original paintings on it and then we get to choose which one we want. How cool is that?

I can't find an obituary for him online and would appreciate it if anyone can add some more info.
