In Memoriam: Sculptor James Myford

Talk about classy people with classy work, Jim Myford, exemplified the best of both. A resident of the Pittsburgh area we'd see Jim at the good shows with his wonderful sculpture. A big smile and a gift for interacting with the public (as well as the work) made him a success at the art fairs.

I just read his obituary in the Pittsburgh-Post Gazette and it doesn't even mention his career at the art fairs! So, just like many of us, he had many personae and different people remembered him and knew him from his various roles.

Jim died May 2, 2014, from cancer at the age of 73. We'll miss you Jim.

  • I'm especially fond of his earlier work. Check out his website and you'll see how great is his art. Very fine, indeed. R.I.P.

    • You're right. I showed one of his installations, but all the work he brought to the shows was stellar. This is one of the people you were always glad to have as a neighbor. His work elevated the work of everyone around him, and besides, a great guy.
