In Memoriam - Phil Thompson

CELEBRATION OF LIFE - AUGUST 27, 2 PM - SOUTH HAVEN, MI - POST #49, AMERICAN LEGION HALL

How to talk about an artist (printmaker) who embodied a life fully lived?

Being next to him at an art fair brought the event to a whole other level. We're not only here to sell our art, but also to find joy in our life doing what means so much to us. I'm planning on being in South Haven on August 27 and hope you'll be there too ... in fact, good timing, very few art fairs on that date! I'm imagining lots of conversations about "the last time I saw Phil."

  • I am so sad to hear.  He was one in a million and you are totally right, "being next to him brought an art fair to a whole other level".  Any show I saw him at was memorable, but the year we were back door neighbors in St.Louis is one I will never forget it.  All I did was laugh.  We share the same medium, and I have such respect for his work, work ethic and humanity.  I have missed seeing him the past years and have wondered how he was.  I am so sorry and offer my deep sympathy to his Eli and his family and close friends.  What a life and what a guy.  Thank you for sharing.

    Warmly,  Julie Sutter-Blair
