I need a chair

Hello Everyone. My director's chair (after 15 years of long hard shows), has finally ripped beyond repair. I would like to purchase one of those wonderful 'Totally Bamboo' or 'Hollywood' chairs-with the fold out, or larger footrest. But, I don't want to pay the $290 + $60 (for the footrest), if I don't have to. Does anyone have any suggestions? Thank you

  • Did you find a chair? If you have the frame take the old fabric ( if it can be removed) to and upholstery place and they will make a new seat and back for you out of canvas way cheaper than buying a new one.
  • I concur with Michelle. I bucked up and bought a Hollywood chair with all the attachments. I LOVE it. It has a fold up footrest, a swivel table thingee, a cup holder, a bag under the seat in which I hide my money and snacks...it's the bomb. Yes, it was more expensive than any of the chairs in my home. And worth every penny.
  • Ann Marie,

I have good solid one. It is black painted wood. The canvas is maroon. It has the footrest. I would let you have it for $ 150.00. You can find cheaper ones on line, also.

Reach me at larry@larrysimages.com or 419-565-5207. I live in Mansfield, OH
  • Do a search for a Internet coupon code for totally bamboo. When I got my chair I did a coupon code search and got $100 off my order and free shipping.
  • The Hollywood chair is worth the money. Just spent last weekend using one and loved it. It's a little tall for short people but extremely comfy! Get the underseat bag and the cup holder in the armrest for added pleasure.
    • Bonnie-Did you order from 'Totally Bamboo', Amazon, or the crafter that sells them, or 'The Hollywood Chair' company itself? I'm thinking that I also want the side tray. I usually drink those walmart flavored water bottles, so, the cup holder might not fit? Thanks for confirming that I just need to spend the money.....and, with all the shows we do.....I would like some pampering ;-)
      • Totally Bamboo is the company, but they have several distributors that sell at a lesser price. Interestingly TB has come down a bit in price from when I bought it but they are still being undercut by their distributors.

I have the elm version and not the bamboo. It is excellent! No regrets and you save an extra $100 not going with bamboo.

BTW, you'll save more if you go through StudentMarket.com. http://tinyurl.com/6f6hvr They charge less and give you free shipping.

This is the same chair as sold on the Totallybamboo.com
site http://tinyurl.com/6x95c6 in addition to a higher price you also have to pay for shipping

Granted, it is still a pricey chair, but very, very well built and designed.

        Cheers,
        LC
  • I too am a beadweaver and demo at shows. I have a chair very similar to this http://www.amazon.com/Warranty-OASIS-HEAVY-DUTY-Chair-HIGH-PRODUCT-... I've had it for 3 or 4 years and really like it. It's super light weight and I find it comfortable. It also works well with my higher display setup. The rung/footrest pegs work well for me (I'm about 5'9"). I need to look into getting new rubber caps for the base and they've broken through.
    • Some photographer friends of mine have the same chairs Megan. The foot rest is desgined different on yours and looks like it works better then the chair I have. They prefer my chair, and I prefer their foot rest.

I decided to get a step n stool, which is a tool box that is also a step stool. It will fit under my chair and I can store my paints in it. Something extra to try and fit in the minivan. They come in all colors, but I got one in black. I saw one at Lowes but ordered it on amazon so I could get the color I wanted.

  • I know the Hollywood chairs are expensive, but after a few years with a director's chair I was never comfortable with, I finally broke down and ordered a Hollywood chair. Best purchase I've made all year. I wish I could get one for my husband, but he gets the old chair. He's just glad I can actually relieve my pain in that chair, which I couldn't in the old one. I did a lot of research on chairs before purchasing this one and have no regrets.
