Hi everyone, this is my first review here on this site and you guys have to forgive my grammar as English is not my native language.

I found out about the show through Zapplication and I applied even though it is the first year here in Houston. That weekend we had other shows going on here in Houston (including my beloved First Saturday Arts Market) so I was a little concerned about it.

a 2 day rain flooded the field of Discovery Green (the venue for the event) so the location of the booths had to be changed. The organizer Bill Kinney was working very hard to make everyone happy and that was a good sign for me.

The venue was very beautiful and the sales were fabulous. I saw Bill Kinney all the time checking on the artist, asking how were we doing and he was very nice to me.

I had some local artists friends that were doing the show also and they told me they did wonderful. One photographer even told me that it was the best show he did so far and he had done The bayou City Art Festival that it is so famous here in Houston.

The other artist were wonderful, very good art and I had the harpist Merry Miller next to my booth playing beautiful music with her harp.

The show was supposed to be over at 5pm but it was 4:55pm and my booth was FULL of people buying, at one point I even had a line of people waiting to pay. So it was impossible to close at 5pm and I ended up closing at 6pm.

I will do more shows with this promoter in the future.

I am so excited I did this show!

  • I wonder if the fact that Bayou's gate admission has gone up to $15 has sent most of those patrons to this show?

    • I think people just love art around here and they show up when an art show is in town. A lady was confused and asked me if that was the Bayou Art Festival and I said no. She answered, I thought so because I didn't have to pay to get.

  • Adriana - any indication of Paragon's schedule for 2014 in Texas, are they planning any shows for spring 2014 in TX?  Their website wasn't showing any spring shows in TX.

    • Ruth, I don't know. Their website is not showing an schedule. What I do I subscribe to Zapplication's email and then I mark the show as a favorite. Then you will get the email when the show is open for registration

  • Wow, what a great review for a first time show.  Of course, I know that Bill has the experience to pull off a first time show well.  This was such a nice review.  Thanks for sharing this with us.  Could we possibly get you to do a review for www.artshowreviews.com?  I will send you some information about that.

    • Yes, I will leave a review on artshowreview :)
