Hi everybody,

My name is Cathie Cantara and I'm new to this site.

After a long hiatus I returned to ceramics (my passion) in 2000 and began my self exploration of the medium.  This culminated in me opening the doors to Homeport Pottery Studio in 2005. Since then I have been a full time studio potter. I specialize in high fired functional stoneware as well as raku and smokefired art pottery.

January is  hunkering down time for me.  I'm busy in the studio creating new work & building up stock.  This is also the time I start filling out show applications and mapping out my schedule for the new year.  I'm so glad I stumbled on this site!  I always looking for new venues and this looks like a great place to give and get feed back on whats going on.

I look forward to talking to you all!

Cat

  • Castleberry Fairs is also doing two shows in Bar Harbor.
    • Anyone done the Bar Harbor/Castleberry shows?  I'm coming up for the summer with my oil paintings and it looks like there's 4 or 5 shows in Bar Harbor between July and September and I'm trying to make up my mind.  Looks like there's a lot of craft shows as opposed to fine art shows.  Any advice?
      • if you are going to Maine, you should try Art in the park-Maine in South Porland and the wcsh6 in downtown Portland (both in August)..they are taking applications now and they fill up fast...

i looked at the  Bar Harbor ones, but they look kind of expensive compared to all the other shows in Maine...so for $200, i rather do 2 or 3 different show....that 's my point of view!!

maybe i see you at one of those shows..so far, i have applied to 9 summer shows in Maine (july-august-september)and got 6 positives..(still waiting for the 3 others)...i am coming from Florida for the summer in Maine

        • Is that show really $65???  Is it a good venue for someone who sells original oil paintings for 500-9000$?
          • yes...i already got accepted..$65..and there was a good review about this show in the "sunshine artist magazine"...but it fill up really fast!!! so don't wait too long..

the one at Bar Harbor from has craft and art..the one in south Porland is Art only (no craft)

            there is also Ogunquit

            • I called the lady there and they don't even require artwork shots...but what the hell, 65 bucks!  Now I just gotta get my RV space nailed down.
              • there is a KOA in Saco..(close to Portland), but Summer in Maine (RV) is not cheap...@$50/day
                • Yeah, I'm staying away from the KOA's and asking around on FB for driveway space for that weekend.  But I would like a home base of operations somewhere between Cape Cod and Portland for July and August.  My head is spinning!
                  • I was at the fall Winter Park show.  Where in FL are you?
                  • well good luck at the shows...i looked at your site through FaceBook...

Awesome work!!!!..i think that i saw your booth in Winter Park. ( i live in Florida)

hopefully..i might see your work in Maine also.

but as i said earlier, also try Ogunquit this Summer ($135 with your own tent) (very touristic place..last summer i went to visit the town ( not during the show),and i could not find a single parking spot!!!
