Has anyone ever had problems with Total Merchant services for their credit card service? They are offering a free nurit 8000 and their charges are 1.65% for non-rewards cards and 2.57% for reward cards, $15 a month for the wireless access cards, $10 month for statement and $25 a month minimum. I know most people like tea Mac or 1NBcard but Total Merchant services seems to have a great deal. please help a newbie!

  • Since this thread has been revived, I thought I would add my two cents, again. I still am using Total Merchant Services. They are very professional and reliable. If you go with the "free" deal, I must remind you that you are renting as opposed to buying and you are paying a little more each month for that option. However, you can negotiate with them for a better deal. They want your business. You could probably save $20-$30 a month.

Btw, the Nurit 8000 has been upgraded. If your machine doesn't work, you need to upgrade your machine to the latest version, which I think is the 8010. Don't quote me on that.
  • We have Total Merchant services and are happy with them. They furnished the terminal. If there is a problem, they are quick to help.

After purchasing other wireless terminals (older Nurits) over the last 10 years....we got fed up with the technology not supporting the terminal. A few thousand dollars in obsolete terminals is not good:(
  • I am using total merchant services and quite happy. It just takes only 2 days to receive payment from customers.once the account is setup and it also offers average monthly prices.

  • I have used Merchant Services for two years now with no problems. I rent the Nurit 8000 and have never had a problem getting connected. I do about 30 shows each year all over the country.

Just like any other business, I work these expenses into the price of my work.
  • I bit on the "free" nurit 8000 offer from Merchant Services. I would not recommend to anyone that they use Total Merchant Services. It appears that their rates are cheaper, but, I have found that you will end up paying more than they tell you. One month I got charged a "compliance" fee of $69. Also, on some charges I get a surcharge. Further, they do not give you the machine. They rent it to you for $25 per month. And, if you don't ask for a shorter term, you are locked in for 3 years.

You are much better off going with a company that sells you the machine. Your overall payout will be much less and you will own the machine. There are other posts here that recommend other CC companies.
  • I use the Way system. My service provider is Cambridge payment Systems
    www.cambridgesystems.com I LOVE them!
I feel I have really low rates & I have my own personal consultant. If I need to call the company for any reason a real person answers the phone & immediately helps me. In this day & age having personal service is a biggy for me. I am usually fairly stressed about something when I do have to call them. I don't want to press 5 #'s & speak to someone in China.
My reps name is Lois Jennings 248 568 4228 If you fax her a statement or two she'll do an annalists & see if she can save you money.
Several friends have switched to this company & are extremely ...
  • I have Total Merchant Services right now, I used to use Integrity. I also have the nurit 8000, which I got for free. So far I haven't had any issues with them. The wireless fee and the statement fee are pretty normal for all CC companies. The $25 a month minimum is, for me, a little different. What it is is you get charged $25 a month if the percentage fees (the 1.65% etc.) don't make them atleast $25 a month. So they make more than $25 a month in fees from you, you'll be fine, otherwise they charge you $25. Which isn't bad considering they give you the machine for free, whereas other companies don't charge the monthly minimum but do charge for the machine. I love my machine, sometimes it can take a few extra seconds to find a signal, but I haven't ever had a real problem with it, indoors or outdoors. It goes off a wireless/cell phone signal so if cell phones are having a hard time finding a signal, the machine will too. For me, I have shows all over and the only times i have issues are when there's a ton of people and they're all using the cell phones! But even then it just takes a few extra seconds to find a signal and still connects just fine!

    I hope this helps!!
  • I have had 4 merchant service companies over the years and really like Merchant warehouse
I own a wireless machine and the total cost is 24$ per month -you can cancel them anytime without fees-they have some of the cheapest rates on all 3 tiers of cards (like reward or personal or corprate cards)-Another potter and i researched 6 companys and they came out ahead-we both dumped our costco merchant service for these guys-After 1 1/2 years still very happy and have referred many to them. • Our service is Community Merchant Services so I am not sure if it is the same. We pay the same percentage plus the $15 access fee plus $46 per month rent to buy Nurit 8020. Merchant was obtained through our credit union. The company seems to be good after one year and the Nurit unit has worked without a problem. The trick to avoid extra charges was to become PCI compliant which can be accomplished for no charge. Just ask what they require, it took two online forms for us. The card charges were posted two days after the batch was sent.
  • What company do you use that you can stop service during the months that you're not active?
