Hi all, I am fortunate to be in Main St/ ft. Worth and Cottonwood shows which are about 10 days apart.  My drive is 800miles each way so I am thinking about parking the van at the airport and flying home and back between shows.  That will save about $400 gas and over $100 in hotels and wear and tear on the van and myself.  Am I missing anything?  Any opinions about parking a van full of photography at Dallas Airport or a Park and Ride situation?  I think I can get a flight on Spirit Airlines for around$175 roundtrip.

  • I don't fly between shows, but had another artist tell me that she uses something called fly, park, stay - or some variation of that name.  It lets you stay at a hotel near the airport, leave your van parked at the hotel, and to/from a destination.  She said she felt better about having the van at a hotel where the staff were kind of keeping an eye out for it, plus she could take the airport shuttle from the hotel.

  • We used to live in Dallas, the best deal for airport parking that we used was "The Parking Spot", their shuttle picks you up at your parking spot, etc.  They have covered parking which is invaluable considering the hail storms that can be horrible in the DFW area.  Strongly advise covered parking and since their lot is monitored 24x7, security is probably better than some of the other options.
