I am fairly new to the festival business. I did a show on the Gulf in the Spring and did very well and have been accepted into a couple of shows this Fall along the Alabama and Florida Gulf Coast. With the oil spill and hurricane forecast I am feeling insecure. What is the opinion of those of you out there with lots of experience in this business. Will or would you do shows this Fall along the effected area of the Gulf?

I know every show is a risk, I would just like to hear other opinions. Thanks.

  • All I can say is that I was going to do a show in New Orleans a few years ago and Katrina happened. I've thought about doing other gulf shows, but perhaps not in the middle of hurricane season. It may be a risk with tourism so effected by the spill, but then another part of me wants to help support this region and go ahead and do it.(just not during hurricanes). I lived in New Orleans while going to school. It has to seasons, summer and February.
