I've been taking advantage of all of your wisdom for a long time and now I'm in a time crunch and looking for assistance. I have been using a knuckle buster for the last three years, authorize.net as my gateway. I'm looking to upgrade to a wireless terminal and am checking out my options. Has anyone used Total Merchant Services? They are rated well by the BBB and give you a free terminal when you use them. Their fees don't seem too much different from others. Thanks for your help.

If you feel lucky, and I did, you could go with a Nurit 2085 Card Payment Terminal, and One (1) Vector Power Inverter 1000 watt (2000 watt peak). You could then transport a car battery which will run the power inverter to run the Nurit. I used this for three years and never lost one payment. You just plug into the phone line when you get home. You authorize the charges in one session and submit them for payment in the next one. It comes in in about 2 - 3 days. I have the above for sale if you are interested. The new prices I paid for this equipment were $89.00 for the inverter and $119.00 for the terminal. I would throw in a battery (three years old) without charge.

Not sure where you live but i have learned over the years NOTHING IS FREE they will get you one way or another. you may want to try costco. they have a wireless machine and from what i have seen they have very good rates. the machine is not free but i know someone in vegas who has one she does a LOT of business with her machine and is very satisfied. i have signature card services and my contact is in the bay area. I do not know about anyone else but i am looking for 24/7 tech support and i have it. i might be paying a little bit more but that tech support is very important to me. i have also talked to teamac and like them but i had my service before i heard of them.
Right you are there, Steve. Nothing is free PLUS tech support from people who really know our business is very important -- we are not open for business 24/7, but when we need the services we really need them, say at a big show that comes once a year, or maybe you only do ten shows a year, you don't want to be caught in with no coverage. You don't want to have your processor unavailable.

i got my machine from ron warren and he saved my buns many times. i was in park city ut. had no coverage and was having problems with my cc machine. i called him and he was in the middle of a birthday party. he called me back and i did store and forward. he was a life saver. that actually happened more than once after i got my machine. he also explained that someone who is giving a machine away for free gets you later with fees. i also have a small power pack that i carry just in
case my battery dies. i had that problem at a show in the middle of nowhere and my neighbor lent me her's and my machine worked like a breeze for two straight days. i have a nurit 8000 and love it.
You might give Rona at More Payment Choices a call at 800-341-4423 ext 702. They have a lot of options for taking credit cards and very reasonable equipment rates. They also offer a cool new service where you can get a card sleeve so you can use an iPhone to swipe the credit card.
Hi Jan, Sorry I can't help you with Total Merchant Services and I know the members here have many providers, so you are going to get my stock answer. There are two companies that specialize in helping art fair artists with the credit card processing that I can recommend as long as you are looking around: 1nbCard.com (advertiser who supports this site and helps keep us alive) click on the ad on the right hand side, and Guy MacDonald's TeaMac. These two companies really know our business and many artists choose them for their credit card services.
